Rosebush Brothers

The Rosebush brothers Mark, Roger, Richard, and Terry are originally from Bay City Michigan. We started our racing career in 1970 in a garage we built at our family’s home. We called it Shaker Automotive or Shade Tree Auto due to the tree we used to pull motors and service neighborhood cars. This would earn us the extra racing money to fund our life long racing habits.

ROGER ROSEBUSH

Roger Rosebush became familiar with motorsports at a very early age as you can see on these pages. While still in high school he assembled, with the help of his brothers, a ‘57 Chevy that was powered by a 427 Chevrolet big block engine.

Racing Life

As a racing competitor he dreamed of the day when he could set a prestigious National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) national record. During his 54-year championship drag racing career he was successful beyond his wildest dreams, setting four National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and one International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) records.

While the racing life has always been rewarding to Roger, it did take a day job to fund all these racing activities over all these years. Luckily, his day jobs from the start have also involved racing and high-performance as Roger effectively found a way to keep involved 24/7 with his first love.

Automotive Industry Experience

Roger originally joined the automotive industry as an employee of the General Motors Corporation in 1970. While at GM he filled various roles including production, inspection, shipping, receiving, and quality control. Roger’s stint at GM would have been longer, but it was interrupted by his military obligations. He served honorably in the United States Army with the 357th Military Police company.

After stints as a high-performance retailer, wholesaler, buyer and manufacturer’s rep, Roger has experienced every side of the high-performance industry. Roger founded Rosebush Motorsport Machine with his brother Terry while simultaneously restoring a 1969 Camaro Z/28 and looking for performance market opportunities that could utilize his marketing and distribution experience.

Quality Radiator Need Identified

One particular need he identified was for a quality radiator that would protect his Camaro’s valuable, numbers-matching original Z/28 engine. The only caveat was that the improved performance radiator had to be able to be installed without modifying the original Camaro chassis in any way. Unable to locate such a unit he commissioned Herb Brinn of Brinn Incorporated to build him such a radiator. Ultimately, that exercise led to his creation of Be Cool Incorporated. This new company was dedicated to the development of radiators and related cooling components that improve the operational efficiency of all vehicles. Roger recognized the need for improved cooling performance in today’s vehicles as well as the muscle cars of the past.

After starting with the first direct-fit performance radiator program in the industry, Be Cool grew from strength to strength by adding a Module Assembly program to their product line. It offered not just a high performance aluminum radiator but a complete cooling package that included an electric fan (or fans, if required) as well as all the related components required for an upgraded cooling system installation all packaged together in one box.

Be Cool built many custom radiators and cooling systems for such diverse consumers as the General Motors Tech Center and Jay Leno, as well as television shows such as Overhaulin’ (with master car builder Chip Foose) and Nash Bridges. Their products have also been specified by Metalcrafters, a custom build shop that produces primarily concept cars, and the German arm of Walt Disney Productions. They also worked closely with GM and Ford to help develop prototype radiators for the Mustang, Cadillac V16 Concept Car, Camaro, and a Corvette.

Back to His Racing Roots

Proving that old racers never die, Roger was bitten hard by the racing bug once again when his wife helped organized a surprise 50th birthday party for him at the nearby Ubly (MI) Drag Strip. A few trips down the asphalt quarter-mile and Roger was quickly hooked on drag racing once again. After getting his record-setting Chevelle out of storage, he quickly set about updating the car. This included the latest in performance technology as well as modern safety equipment. His timing couldn’t have been better because it allowed him to compete at the granddaddy of all drag races, the NHRA U.S. Nationals, in its 50th anniversary year. Just like old times, Roger won his class and became a national champion once again.

The Newest Chapter

After selling Be Cool and taking a few years off to regenerate, Roger discovered that cooling, like racing, was an integral part of his life. So much so, that he founded Solution.cool to fill a still glaring need by providing a necessary line of highest-quality cooling products.

TERRY ROSEBUSH

Terry Rosebush, the oldest of the Rosebush Brothers, was born in Bay City, Michigan. He lived his entire life there until he built a retirement home and shop,Terry Rosebush Motorsports, in Boyne City, Michigan.

Terry bought his first Hot Rod magazine in 1959. Dazzled beyond belief by what he saw within its pages, he knew immediately that this was the sport/hobby/lifestyle for him. Thus began a 64-year odyssey that would carry Terry to all points of the motorsports world.

Terry’s Pontiac, and his driving skills, proved to be very successful, winning at his home track of Tri-City Dragway quite frequently. All told, the various different Rosebush Racing Chevelles claimed 15 NHRA Championships over the years with Terry as the co-owner and crew chief.

For 36-years of the time that Terry raced he was also a full-time, skilled trades machinist at General Motors’ Bay City Complex. Even today, Terry tells of a few race car parts, tools, and jigs that came out of his time there.

Since 2000, Terry has pursued the two passions in his life: searching for obscure high-performance and racing parts and then selling them through his eBay store. He is a well-known source for all things unobtanium in the high-performance world.
