October 31, 2023 was an exciting day at the Motorsports Hall of Fame (MSHOF). Not only because it was Halloween, but they were busy loading cars into the hauler to make the journey to the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance and Motoring Festival in South Carolina, November 4-5. Amongst the loading vehicles were the 1963 #50 Pontiac Tempest and Richard Petty’s #43 Mopar.

They were going to the concours to help honor the 75th anniversary of NASCAR and to help showcase the history of the motorsport giant. The special exhibit “Life on the Oval” featured historical cars from the MSHOF, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and from other prominent collections.
On Friday, Don Cooper from MSHOF, met up with Roger Rosebush to set up a display next to the #50 Tempest along with the other vendors in this special area for the “Life on the Oval” exhibit.

Saturday the show opened. Weather was great and many spectators roamed the massive show on the grounds of the Port Royal Golf Club.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame had a few cars on display, as well as, Hendrick Motorsports. Both displays were beautiful with several of their “masterpieces” on the lawn.

GM design had their Smokey recreation, a 1955 Chevrolet that drew plenty of attention along with the MSHOF’s, Richard Petty Mopar and the #50 Pontiac Tempest.

Sunday was another beautiful day and appeared to be filled with even more people than Saturday. Lunch was very nice, served by various local restaurants.

MSHOF passed out coffee cups and brochures and kept busy telling stories about the museum and tales of the #50 Tempest. All in all, it was a very nice event for car lovers and story tellers.
